There are 7 notes in a scale. e.g.: C D E F G A B. Now were talking about the chords not note. Select 1 = C, 4 = F, 5 = G. That are the chords in the key of C.
Pentatonic means you play on 5 notes for each chord. Btw, blue is based on pentatonic but has more that 5 notes… (is a note called blues note). Nevermind.. keep in mind the chord numbers thing. The number represent the ROOT of that chord. Good luck!
could someone tell …
could someone tell me how he is playing those cords ? I missed that lesson, It looks different than my charts for a A7, D7 & E7, Thanks
the chords are from …
the chords are from the key of A
the pentatonic is taken from the major scale its just 5 notes from the major scale so you could play and A major scale over it if u like but it wouldn’t sound bluesy
Chord progressions …
Chord progressions are mapped out in relation to the major scale. Never apologize for seeking knowledge. Nobody here was born knowing anything about music theory. Cheers!
It is the 4 note of …
It is the 4 note of the major scale, not the pentatonic scale
The 1-4-5 just …
The 1-4-5 just refers to the whole octave of the whole note scale. Take the key of “C”:
C D E F G A B
C is always 1, F is always 4, G is always 5, etc
In pentatonic minor, we don’t play the 2 and 6, but hey are still there (and people often add them in anyway to make things sound cool)
C (D) E F G (A) B.
(I left off the sharp and flat issue here to focus on the scale tones. Remember pentatonic minor is a subset of the MINOR scale, so the 3 and 7 are flat ).

If your middle …
If your middle finger is hitting the fourth string you have to work on a more vertical attack. Simply put, try to get the first segment of your finger to come straight down behind the fret instead from the side. Always focus on using your finger tips instead of the pad of your finger, except on the barre parts. As for your finger fatigue, you really do just have to practice to get them used to akward positions like that. I hope that helps and keep on playin the blues!

I have trouble with the turnaround….
2nd finger gets in the way of 4th string….
3rd finger hurts after not even a minute cause the joints are bending a weird way. Then it starts to get weak and the first 3 strings buzz.

Err…
Anybody got advice other than practice? Cause you gotta know what you’re doing to practice, and i don’t know how to not mess up the 4th string…. it’s tough.
